The remains of a man missing since 2004 were found inside a submerged car in a reservoir in Utah, USA.

The remains of Steven Willard Anderson were found inside a submerged car in a reservoir in Utah, USA. The man, missing for almost 20 years, left home for a trip and never returned.

The case was closed on Tuesday (11) after the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that the body found was Steven’s. Authorities reported that there is no suspicion of foul play.

According to KUTV, he left his home in Murray for a 320-km trip to a family cabin in Flaming George, Utah. The family never heard from him again.

The Utah Department of Public Safety stated that he disappeared without a trace.

Years after the disappearance, the case was reopened by Doug Bishop from the missing persons organization United Search Corps. The team resumed the search alongside local authorities in early 2024.

Axel, the missing man’s son, told Fox 13 that the case had been a “wound that never healed.”

“It’s good to have closure for the family, and now I’m looking forward to the future. The search is over, the questions have been answered, and we can start a new chapter,” said Axel.
